she meets him first in the back of her fourth period English class. he isn't the most beautiful boy in the world, and he doesn't make her heart throb like the idols on tv do, but she likes the way his gums show when he smiles, and she likes the way he always rushes to sit next to her before anyone else does. it makes her feel special, and she knows she gets a little haughtier and a little holier than thou about it, but who doesn't love when someone else can see the value in them?

they don't have classes together the year after, but somehow he always seems to be where she is, and she never has to worry about walking to her next class alone, because as soon as she rounds to exit into the hall, sungwook is always trotting up behind her, lifting her books from her hands and plopping them on top of his own, carrying them all without complaint, and chatting to her with energy she doesn't know how to get after a grueling class.

he always walks her to her classes first, and she's positive it makes him late, but he's never complained about it, and she doesn't bring it up. if he wants to be late that's fine with her; if she brings it up to him he might stop, and it's kind of fun to never have to walk alone or carry her own books.

he starts picking her up to spend lunch with her, and all her friends complain that she's always spending time with the boys and they never get to see her, but she's always been a bit of a boys girl, and she only waves them off.

all his friends call her 'sungwook's girlfriend', and it irritates her to no end. like shes some kind of property? like she exists as nobody but "sungwook's girlfriend", when the lot of them know for a fact that they aren't dating? she chews out every single one of them for it, especially sungwook, and the next time she sees them, not one of them says it again. shes just as irritated by that, too; she realizes she kind of liked it.

her parents aren't home when she invites him over. they don't get halfway through the movie before she's pushing his face between her legs and he makes her see stars. they cuddle on the couch, and she considers it a test that he passes with flying colors when he doesn't expect her to return the favor. it's the first time she's seen a boy get hard though, and it's pretty exciting.

she invites him over more after that, mostly after school before her parents are home, and mostly just so he can watch her get changed, and she can get satisfaction from knowing his eyes are glued to her, and then when she gets to see the way he smiles apologetically when she snaps at him and scolds him for it like that wasn't the exact thing she was going for all along.

it's her birthday and she can't believe he hasn't asked her out. what's wrong with this boy? what's wrong with her who can't of enough of him? she is snippy with him the entire day, but he still diligently takes her everywhere she wants to go, pays for everything, and doesn't complain when she makes him carry it all. by the time they get back home she's so irritated she wishes he'd just go away, and she hits him in the shoulder, demanding that he ask her out already, before she goes and finds someone else.

he does, and she says no. that'll teach him!

she texts him later with nothing more than a yes, and within the hour he's texting her back that he's outside. they spend the night on the back porch, and it feels much better to kiss her boyfriend than it did to kiss her boy friend.

she never thought it would be so fun to have a boy so wrapped around her fingers. she knows he loves her and she doesn't feel the same, she just wants to play around for a little.

she takes it back, maybe she does love him. men were following home tonight, commenting on how tight her pants were, telling her to come home with them, telling her about the things they'd do to her. she'd texted sungwook when she first noticed them, and she's always been tough and able to take care of herself, but she's terrified of this.

she's close to tears when sungwook shows up with jima in tow, and stays behind the both of them when they get into a fight. sungwook doesn't look upset about his split lip or cut cheek when the men take their leave, and comes up to her to cup her face, making sure she's alright before tending to himself. her heart feels tight, but she hits him for daring to put her through these kinds of emotions. and who is going to have to patch him up for getting hurt? he shuts her up with a soft kiss.

he spends every weekend at her house. she does nothing but sit on her bed and study, but he seems perfectly happy sitting on the floor with his head against her thigh. she cant study right without that weight on her, or without the soothing feeling of his hair through her fingers. it used to be softer, but she's been experimenting with hair colors lately, and having two canvases is much more convenient than just having one.

okay, maybe he looks ridiculous more often than not, but she likes that he lets her, and she likes that he never complains, even when she dyes his hair hot pink and his parents flip their lids at him.
